COUPLE ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE BURGLARIES

On Thursday, May 9, 2013 multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the arrest of two (2) individuals believed to have been involved in numerous residential daylight burglaries in Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties.

During the afternoon hours on May 9th the West Shore Regional Police Department along with officers from the Camp Hill Borough Police Department and the East Pennsboro Township Police Department were surveilling suspects believed to have been involved in the burglaries.  The subjects were observed in the Floribunda housing development in East Pennsboro Township.  They were observed parked in front of a residence in the 1st block of Sunfire Avenue.  When they drove away from the residence a detective approached the home and discovered that it had been broken into.  Subsequently the vehicle was stopped and property was seen in the vehicle that was later determined to have been stolen.

The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the West Shore Regional Police Department where they were interviewed.  As a result of the interviews it is alleged that they were responsible for at least ten (10) residential burglaries dating back to March 21, 2013.

The burglaries the subjects are believed to have been involved in are:

    100 block of Valley View Road in New Cumberland Borough on March 21, 2013

    400 block of Beacon Road in New Cumberland Borough on March 28, 2013

    800 block of Walnut Street in Lemoyne Borough on April 4, 2013

    400 block of Penn Ayr Road in Hampden Township on April 11, 2013

    300 block of Willow Mill Road in Silver Spring Township on April 16, 2013

    1st block of Hamlet Court in Silver Spring Township on April 16, 2013

    3800 block of Copper Kettle Road in Hampden Township on April 18, 2013

    3800 block of Pamay Drive in Hampden Township on April 18, 2013

    200 block of Edenderry Way in East Pennsboro Township on April 24, 2013

These individuals are believed to have been involved in additional incidents and additional charges may be filed in the future.

The subjects are:

    Nicholas Lee MALONE of 542 Bosler Avenue in Lemoyne, PA / White Male / 26 Years Old

    Lakyn Marie CHECKEYE of 5482 Youngridge Drive in Pittsburg, PA / White Female / 22 Years Old

They are being charged with ten (10) counts of Burglary each and were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Richard S. Dougherty this morning.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held at Magisterial District Judge Elizabeth Beckley’s office located at 1901 State Street in Camp Hill on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm.  Both MALONE and CHECKEYE are being held at the Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $100,000.00 bail.

In addition to the West Shore Regional PD, Camp Hill Borough PD and the East Pennsboro Township PD assistance was provided by the Silver Spring Township PD, Hampden Township PD, Fairview Township PD (York County) and the Swatara Township PD (Dauphin County) and the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.
